History of UAFPThe Utah Academy of Family Physicians was found on August 29, 1946 under the name of the “Utah State Society of Physicians and Surgeons in General Practice.” Dr L.E. Robinson of Salt Lake was elected as President with Dr Chas W. Woodruff as Vice President. Dues at the time of organization were $15.00, which at the initial meeting included 22 total paying members. In January 1948 the Board of Directors discussed the desire of the of the American Academy of General Practice to have Utah as a state chapter. On April 1, 1948, with a vote of 22 “yes” and 2 “no” the name of the Organization was changed to the American Academy of General Practice of Utah. The Utah Academy of Family Phyisicans now has nearly 800 members across the state of Utah and still enjoys its great relationship with the American Academy of Family Physicians. |
